ADM attend “The Heart of England Forest” Volunteering Event

7th December 2021

Planting Tomorrow’s Great Native Woodland - November 2021

Last year in place of sending Christmas cards and gifts, we decided to make a £250 donation to a very worthy cause, the Woodland Trust’s “The Big Climate Fightback” campaign and pledged to volunteer at a Tree Planting Event in 2021. Unfortunately, due to the continued effect of the pandemic, we have been unable to attend an organised tree planting event for the Woodland Trust this year but have given our time and a donation to The Heart of England Forest instead.

ADM Surveyor’s employees assisted with planting 250 native trees for The Heart of England Forest and have supported this worthy charity with a donation to help them establish and maintain a huge new 30,000 acre, semi contiguous forest by planting 13 million native broad-leaf trees right in the heart of the country. The Forest covers a mosaic of habitats across 7,000 acres of land in Warwickshire and Worcestershire, including 4,000 acres of new woodland and 600 acres of mature and ancient woodland.

So far, The Heart of England Forest have planted over 1.9 million trees. Tree planting on this scale makes a significant positive environmental impact, creating a huge carbon sink and helping to mitigate climate change. Further environmental and social impacts of planting include water purification and flood alleviation.

At just 23% of the way towards their 30,000-acre goal, The Heart of England Forest is already the largest new native broad-leaf woodland in England.

ADM’s staff gave a total of 18 hours at an organised tree planting event at Church Bank Farm, Binton, Stratford Upon Avon, where 70,000 trees are needed to be planted by the end of March 2022. Two hundred and fifty-two saplings, a mixture of broad-leaf trees which are native to the UK were planted by us on 19th November 2021.

Ros Anscombe, Community Partnerships Officer from The Heart of England Forest said:
“A huge thank you to ADM Surveyors for coming out to the Forest and helping us plant an amazing number of trees. As a charity we rely on the support of businesses who share our ethos and it was brilliant to have such a great corporate team volunteering with us to make a tangible impact on the environment, ultimately contributing to a greener future in the UK.”

We were fortunate with the weather conditions on the day which enabled us to complete the task efficiently. We all thoroughly enjoyed our time taking part to help assist The Heart of England’s tree planting effort to reach their 70,000 goal.
