Opened by Sir David Attenborough in July 2015, Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust’s £1.1m training centre provides support and training for volunteers in conservation.
Designed as a hub to meet the year round demand of volunteers, the two storey centre offers overnight accommodation, meeting and conference rooms, a lagoon viewing gallery as well as storage and maintenance areas to support the innovative and exciting range of learning activities offered by the Trust.
ADM was commissioned to act as Quantity Surveyor on this prestigious project, which was built on the site of a redundant store compound on the west side of Rutland Water, adjacent to Lagoon 4.
Officially opening the Training Centre, Sir David Attenborough said: “This wonderful new building will enable skilled volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to protect and conserve the rich diversity of wildlife at Rutland Water and other important nature reserves into the future”.
The new training centre, which was designed by Corporate Architecture, provides stunning views across Rutland Water which is managed by Anglian Water and is home to the first breeding ospreys in central England for 150 years.
